The contrast between the conventional existing building and the new contemporary extension is a bonus to the house due to the separation of the two volumes.
This is why a separate stairway was constructed between the two buildings, giving the impression of two separate buildings.
Furthermore, the layout of the area means that these two architectural styles cannot easily be appreciated at the same time.
On the one hand, the large square in front of the town hall emphasizes the conventional style of the edifice, yet, on the other hand, due to the narrow nature of the side street, "Rue des Ecoles", and the lack of space, the south and west facades cannot be appreciated simultaneously.
In the same way, from Rue de la Chapelle, the conventional facade cannot be seen at all with the result that what one sees is the contemporary aspect of the house.
